In a recent achievement, An-Najah Hospital’s ophthalmology team successfully performed the first cornea transplant operation for a patient with severe Cornea abrasion.
The implanted cornea was brought from the United States, and the surgery team was headed by Dr. Mohammad Shehadeh, Consultant in Cornea and LASIK Surgery and Head of the Ophthalmology Department An-Najah Hospital.
Professor Saleem Haj Yahya, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and CEO of An-Najah Hospital stated that the Hospital aspires to offer the best medical services in order to limit need for Palestinians to go abroad for treatment and save them the trouble of traveling.
It is also worth mentioning that An-Najah Hospital in cooperation with the Faculty of Law have proposed a project to establish an organ bank for the service of the Palestinian community.
