Vision
The faculty aspires to develop scientific research with regard to health sciences, produce competent staff members who are able to keep up with today’s rapidly evolving world and provide excellent health services for the hospital’s patients. The faculty also aspires to develop the health sector through achieving excellence in teaching, conducting research and offering medical services.
Mission
The faculty aims at setting basic principles for medical education and health sciences in Palestine and competing on the local and the international levels as well as offering opportunities for its students to enrol in high quality programmes.
Objectives
For decades, Palestinian physicians had their graduate certificates in human medicine from Arab and international universities due to the lack of medical schools. In 1999, the Faculty of Medicine ((FM) was established at An-Najah National University (ANNU). It started by teaching the first 3 years basic (pre-medical phase) at ANNU after which students would move to Al- Quds University in Jerusalem to continue their clinical phase of medical clinical training. In 2006 FHM added the medical clinical training phase to its curriculum and became fully operational and independent.
The objectives for the Foundation of the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences at An-Najah National University are:
- Provide Palestine with highly qualified physicians to serve the nation and to fulfill its demands.
- Give the opportunity for local students to study at a national university to avoid traveling abroad to study medicine with all its consequences.
- Advocate for improvements in local healthcare systems and community health and to be introduced the patterns of local and regional diseases and environment.
- To create and develop a scientific research system in medicine.
- Provide the needed responsibilities for health centers and monitoring the health environment to solve the medical challenges that society faces.
- Engage in scholarly inquiry with a goal of advancing knowledge in the service of the mission of medicine both nationally and regionally.
- Develop and update the teaching curriculums, plans, and methodologies continuously by keeping up with modern scientific developments.
