The student will be able to utilize the steps of the research process in the proposal and/or conduct of circumscribed midwifery research project. In this course a relevant midwifery problem is identified. Systematic observations of events should be carried out using relevant quantitative or qualitative methods. The validity and reliability of the methods should be discussed. The results should be presented, interpreted, discussed and related to a theoretical level. The work is to be documented in the form of a paper organized in a conventional scientific way. Included in the course are presenting a defense of the work and acting as an opponent of another project. Students will select a small research project of actual interest. Faculty members will assist as supervisors for the area of the study. The finding of a written research paper will be present to the seminar group. It is required and restricted to last semester senior nursing students. This course is designed to emphasize one of the important roles of the midwife, which is a researcher's role. Through this course the students increase their knowledge about research design and the steps that should be followed in order to conduct research, and being aware of the particular research evidence that relates to practice
