Dr. Khaled Demyati Awarded Fellowship of Abdominal Transplant Surgery

Dr. Khaled Demyati, staff member at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah University, and Head of the Department of Surgery at An-Najah National University Hospital completed an advanced surgical subspecialty training program in abdominal transplant surgery.

Demyati was awarded fellowship of abdominal transplant surgery from Turgut Ozal Medical Center, Inuno University, Turkey.

When we interviewed Dr. Demyati, he said that there are work plans to start this type of surgeries at An-Najah National University Hospital in the near future. He added that the hospital is well equipped and advanced liver  kidney surgeries has been performed at this hospital for years, calling for organ donation and transplantation promotion and support.
In addition, Dr. Demyati managed to get intensive surgical training at Turgut Ozal Medical Center of Inuno University, the largest liver transplant center in Turkey and second in Europe.
Moreover, Dr. Demyati holds the Malaysian and the Palestinian Board in general and laparoscopic surgery. He was also subspecialized in Hepatobiliary surgery at Selayang Medical Center in Kuala Lumpur, and has been working in this field since 2010.

Furthermore, Dr. Demyati chairs the Department of Surgery at An-Najah National University Hospital and has established the Hepatobiliary Surgery Unit (HSU) at the hospital. HSU is the first specialized surgery unit in Palestine and considered a national tertiary referral unit for this type of operations.
