An-Najah University obtained accreditation by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) for Cardiac Perfusion Technology (CPT), the first of its kind in the region.
The primary aim of Cardiac Perfusion Technology is to academically and clinically prepare the cardiovascular perfusion student for professional practice. The program will focus on developing a strong knowledge base in cardiothoracic anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, as well as pharmacology, fetal and neonatal cardiac development and perfusion science.
Graduates are expected to be members of the open-heart surgical team whose primary role is to conduct cardiopulmonary bypass using a heart-lung machine and other ancillary equipment. In addition, they will be experts of other life support equipment such as ventricular assist devices and intra-aortic balloon pumps. The program will include 136 credit hours.
