Abstract

Introduction

The WHO Surgical Safety Checklist was developed in 2009 aiming to decrease errors and adverse events, and increase teamwork and communication in surgery (Gawande, 2010). The 19-item checklist which includes patient identification, marking of surgical site, and other items; has gone on to show significant decrease in both morbidity and mortality and is now used by a majority of hospitals worldwide (Anne E. et al, 2015).

Aim

to examine the effectiveness of implementing the WHO safe surgery checklist in Nablus city hospitals on improving patient safety.

Methodology

Study design chosen for this study was descriptive quantitative prospective observation design. For the data analysis the researchers used the SPSS program for the analysis of the data version 24.
