An understanding of movement analysis will be achieved in this module by teaching students the
principals of biomechanics and kinesiology. Theory of motion and application of PT therapies to
the human body will be taught in discipline to the medical rehabilitation. Precautions of lifting
regarding the spine; function and dysfunction of the spine in terms of biomechanics will be
reviewed. Clinical reasoning and problem solving skills will be used to teach this course.
Students will study the movement of the joints; their function, dysfunction and structure. It will
cover upper limbs and lower limbs. Physiotherapy students are experts in movement analysis;
therefore this course will cover assessment of posture and gait. It covers also the roles of muscle
action (agonist, antagonist, stabilizer, and neutralizer). Students will be able to use their
knowledge of biomechanics, kinesiology, gait and posture in their practical life and clinical
settings.
