Abstract:

The lymphoid and myeloid malignant bone marrow neoplasms are collectively known as leukemia. The term is used when the abnormal cells appear in the bone marrow and blood circulation. Lymphoma is an abnormal proliferation of lymphoid cells within the lymphatic tissue or lymph nodes. It was reported in the literature that the prevalence and incidence of both diseases were increased significantly in the last years. In addition to adult and elderly, children are also target for having these diseases. Every 3 minutes, one person in the United States is diagnosed with blood cancer. However, no statistical data are available about the incidence and prevalence of leukemia and lymphoma in Palestine. Therefore, this study is designed to establish a database and relevant statistics about these diseases.
