Experience of Clinical Training and Academic Achievement among Nursing Student at An-Najah National University

Abstract:

 

Introduction:  An clinical training is an opportunity for graduate  or those who are still studying nursing  to improve their skills, also contributes to gain practice in a real world setting under the guidance of knowledgeable, experienced, and successful supervisor.

Aims: This study explore the experience of student’s training and academic achievement among An-Najah University Nursing Student.

Methods: Descriptive qualitative design was chosen, semi-structured Face-to-Face interviews completed with 6 students who are from differentstudying years. Non-probability purposive sampling method used to select participants with taking in consideration all ethical approval issues.

Result: The clinical training enhances the theoretical part of their courses which appears in their responses, the coaching style which utilized by their clinical instructors helped them to add new information through an extended explanation, and close observation , the psychological aspect during training increase the self-stem through enhanced communication skill and increase enjoyment work , and the training facilitate transition from student nurse to registered nurse.

Conclusion: The use of a qualitative design and the descriptive method of data collection provided rich descriptions of student nurses’ lived experiences during the clinical practice. That students showed that clinical training plays a major role in increasing their gained information, remember the information, and expand their experience and knowledge of theoretical part, which reflect to their academic achievement.
