ABSTRACT
Herbs are one of remedial agents which God has created for afflicted humans. Herbal extracts have been used in traditional medicine for several thousand years. During the last few decades, there has an increasing interest in study of medicinal plants and their traditional uses in different parts of the world. The herbal products, today, symbolize safety, in contrast to synthetic that are regarded as unsafe to humans and the environment. According to the World Health Organization as many as 80% of the world’s people depend on traditional medicine (herbal) for their primary health care needs. The greater part of traditional therapy involves the use of plant extracts or their active principles. The rising demand for natural antioxidant instead of synthetic materials, especially in biomedical application, has led to increase in search for bioactive compounds with potent antioxidant activity. (WHO, 1993)
